What SubComply does
SubComply is a self-serve compliance portal designed to give UK construction contractors a live view of every subcontractor’s insurance, certification, and registration status. When it launches, subcontractors will upload documents from their phone. The system will track expiry dates, send automatic renewal alerts, and generate audit-ready compliance packs on demand.
Who it’s for
SubComply is built for contracts managers and directors at UK construction firms with 5 to 50 employees and turnover between £1M and £20M. If you manage 10 to 200 subcontractors and spend too much time chasing paperwork, SubComply is for you.
Why it exists
Principal contractors have a legal duty under CDM 2015 (Regulation 8) and HSWA (Section 3) to verify every subcontractor’s competence and insurance before they start on site. Employers’ liability insurance alone carries a £2,500/day fine for operating without valid cover.
With 30 active subs and roughly 8 documents per sub, that’s around 240 individual documents cycling through annual renewals. Most contractors manage this with email chains, WhatsApp photos, shared drives, and spreadsheets that go stale within weeks. SubComply is designed to replace all of that with a single source of truth.
